Hat tip to Sue Fulton Robinson, Milwaukee, OR
I believe the Bible teaches that when a New Testament saint dies, his spirit immediately enters into the presence of God ("to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord"). His (or her) earthly body remains in the grave, awaiting the return of Christ and its resurrection and transformation. As I understand it, when Christ returns to this earth again our spirit, which has been present with the Lord, is then united with our resurrection body, which is also our "glorified body." Bible.org
