Cuba's Fidel Castro, who defied US for 50 years, has died
"Former President Fidel Castro, who led a rebel army to improbable victory in Cuba, embraced Soviet-style communism and defied the power of 10 U.S. presidents during his half century rule, has died at age 90." . . .

President Obama's and Trump's Statements on the Death of Castro Couldn't Be Any More Different  One comment:

@markknoller Not a single word about  crimes and anti-humanitarian totalitarian regime. Typical. Obama is a FAN of Fidel Castro.

Rubio blasts Obama's 'pathetic' Castro statement
"Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) lashed out at President Obama on Saturday for not taking a harsher stance against Fidel Castro in a statement issued after the former Cuban leader’s death.
“ 'President Obama issued a pathetic statement on death of dictator #FidelCastro with no mention of thousands he killed & imprisoned,” Rubio said in a tweet." . . .
"In his statement, Obama took pains to avoid expressing any judgments on Castro’s legacy, acknowledging the “powerful emotions” felt by the Cuban people over the passing of a leader who “altered” the course of many of their lives.
"Meanwhile, Rubio issued his own statement saying that Castro will be remembered as an “evil, murderous dictator who inflicted misery and suffering on his own people.' ”

Legal Insurrection: Brutal Dictator Fidel Castro DEAD . . . "In Little Havana in Miami, there was dancing in the street.
"In the real Havana, celebrating his death would likely result in a lengthy prison sentence, so no dancing for them.
"In the left-wing political circles, there was praise for this communist revolutionary.
"In the U.S. media, it was like — let’s remember he instituted free health care!"

Silvio Canto, Jr.:   A very hot place awaits Fidel
. . . "Third, I will always remember the day we left and the look on my mother's face when the plane took off.
"Most of all, we remember how he destroyed Cuba.  He came to power when Cuba was a very prosperous island with a growing middle class.  It is not that country anymore, as Tim Worstall wrote:" . . .
"What happens now?  This is a great opportunity for President-Elect Trump to demand some real concessions from the island's leadership.
. . .
"Cuba is screaming for change.  Let's hear it and demand real concessions from Raúl Castro.
"And please don't insult the memory of so many by sending a big delegation to his funeral.  Stay away and show your respect for the thousands executed by this regime."

. . . "Yet liberals in the U.S. media — who rightly condemned such abuses when perpetrated by dictators such as Chile’s Augusto Pinochet — inexplicably remain enchanted with Castro and his socialist revolution. For more than five decades, positive profiles of Castro have appeared in U.S. papers." . . .
