What’s a ‘Selfie Yacht’? Israel’s Viral Dig Has a Greta Thunberg Connection | Times Now . . ."Gaza: Israeli authorities have intercepted and seized the “Madleen,” a yacht carrying high-profile activists including Swedish climate campaigner Greta Thunberg, as it attempted to sail toward Gaza. The Israeli Foreign Ministry dismissed the vessel as a “selfie yacht” filled with “celebrities,” criticising the mission as a publicity stunt. The activists were reportedly instructed to turn back but continued on course, prompting Israel to redirect the vessel to one of its ports. Defence Minister Yoav Gallant reiterated that Israel would not permit any attempt to breach its naval blockade on the Palestinian territory, regardless of the vessel’s passengers or purpose.
"Now, the Israeli Foreign Ministry has called the boat carrying activists "selfie yacht", adding that those who deliver aid do not post " Instagram selfies".
"Among the passengers was Rima Hassan, a Member of the European Parliament (MEP). The British-flagged yacht Madleen, operated by the pro-Palestinian Freedom Flotilla Coalition (FFC), was stopped during its mission. Hassan shared a photo from the scene, showing individuals in life jackets with their hands raised, as the interception unfolded.
" 'Greta Thunberg is currently on her way to Israel, safe and in good spirits," the Israeli Foreign Ministry confirmed on Monday."
"In case you missed it: The ‘selfie yacht’ is safely making its way to the shores of Israel. The passengers are safe and were provided with sandwiches and water, and are expected to return to their home countries.
"The tiny amount of aid that wasn’t consumed by the “celebrities” will be transferred to Gaza through real humanitarian channels.
" More than 1,200 aid trucks have entered Gaza from Israel within the past two weeks, and close to 11 million meals were transferred by the GHF directly to civilians in Gaza.
"There are ways to deliver aid to the Gaza Strip — they do not involve provocations and [selfies].
