The Audacity of Failure

Heritage "Even the Obama administration doesn’t want to add another $5 trillion to our $13.5 trillion national debt. That is why the Obama administration is pushing a $921 billion tax hike set to take effect on January 1, 2011. There is only one word for proposing $981 billion in taxes to pay for trillions in failed stimulus spending in the midst of 9.6% unemployment: audacity."

Employers Push Costs for Health on Workers "Workers also increasingly face higher deductibles, forcing them to pay a larger share of their overall medical bills. “The long-term trend is pretty clear,” said Drew E. Altman, the chief executive of the Kaiser foundation, which conducted the survey this year with the Health Research and Educational Trust, a research organization affiliated with the American Hospital Association. “Insurance is getting stingier and less comprehensive.” "
More here: Workers bear larger share of health premium costs

 Famous quotes:
 But "you will not have your taxes go up one dime" (President Obama);
 "You lie!" (Joe Wilson).

SETTING UP AN "I TOLD YOU SO" "Obama might use his "Republican blockade" line again. What do you call it when the Democrats absolutely refuse to allow the Republicans to offer any amendments to the bill? That's not a blockade?
"This guy is an incompetent, anti-capitalist menace. Listen to him but try to remember what his true mindset is." Neal Boortz

An Army of Straw Men

Michael Gerson "Freedom of religious worship and expression is essential to human dignity -- which makes blocking the construction of a mosque for religious reasons a violation of Christian belief. And zoning laws in Mecca or Riyadh have nothing to do with this principle.
"Religious tribalism -- dividing the children of light from the children of darkness -- is a problem in many traditions. But a reaction in kind from conservative Christians would manage to undermine their interests and their convictions at the same time."

The Texas Baptist Newsjournal : Quran burning condemned "Evangelical leaders said the plans should be canceled.
“The proposed burning of Qurans would be profoundly offensive to Muslims worldwide, just as Christians would be insulted by the burning of Bibles,” an NAE statement said. “Such an act would escalate tensions between members of the two faiths in the United States and around the world.”

Step One -- Opposing the Burning of the Qur'an "1. If he does, the images will reverberate on the internet internationally, and this could lead to unparalled fury in the Muslim world. How many deaths, injuries, persecutions, burning of churches and attacks on U.S. interests and American citizens might result?
"2. The Gospel would thus be slandered."

"We Give No Offense In Anything " 2 Corinthians 6:3 "We must be careful that our presentation of the gospel is not offensive. We must give equal diligence to insure that our lives are not offensive. Paul made it his aim to not allow anything to offend so as to hinder the spread of the gospel or the spiritual growth of his brethren. How sad to think that one thoughtless action might cancel all the many positive efforts put forth in the cause of Christ."  The Expository Files

Obama Could Use Some Clintonesque Salesmanship

Jonah Goldberg "Just as often, Obama confuses explanation for persuasion, as if simply telling us that because he thinks X, then X must be the way to go. More infuriating, nearly all of his explanations assume that disagreement with him must stem from ignorance or villainy. That pose worked a little when he could claim that opposition was synonymous with Republican partisanship. But now that disagreement has moved to the mainstream, he seems to have an adversarial relationship with the people he's supposed to represent.
"I'm not shopping for a Clinton version of the "Miss Me Yet?" T-shirt, but I do miss having a Democratic president who didn't seem to think the job was beneath him."

Obama loses backing on taxes

Washington Times "If Congress fails to act - a possibility given the gridlock that has gripped the Senate - workers at every income level would face significant tax increases next year.

"Taxpayers making between $40,000 and $50,000 a year would get hit with an average income tax increase of $923 next year. Those making between $50,000 and $75,000 would face an average increase of $1,126, according to estimates by the nonpartisan Joint Committee on Taxation."

Meltdown of the climate 'consensus'

NY Post via Heritage:   "What does the best evidence now tell us? That man-made global warming is a mere hypothesis that has been inflated by both exaggeration and downright malfeasance, fueled by the awarding of fat grants and salaries to any scientist who'll produce the "right" results.
"The warming "scientific" community, the Climategate emails reveal, is a tight clique of like-minded scientists and bureaucrats who give each other jobs, publish each other's papers -- and conspire to shut out any point of view that threatens to derail their gravy train.
"Such behavior is perhaps to be expected from politicians and government functionaries. From scientists, it's a travesty. "

Radical Obama Justice Department Sues Sheriff Joe Arpaio

Gateway Pundit "This should surprise no one. After all, Sheriff Joe Arpaio was trying to uphold the law in Arizona."

To Letterman's Irritation, Trump Denounces Ground Zero Mosque as 'Insensitive,'

Newsbusters "When Trump repeated his point, to more applause, about how “it's very insensitive to build it there and I think they should go someplace else,” a befuddled Letterman wondered: “Describe for me what insensitivity is manifested if it's built there?” And Letterman fretted: “Does this suggest that we are in fact officially at war with Muslims?”
"To which, Trump observed: “Well, somebody knocked down the World Trade Center.” "

Palin’s New Defenders: Liberal Feminists

National Review "Yesterday, Vanity Fair released yet another long hatchet job piece about Sarah Palin. But what this piece has generated — well, besides incredulity that a magazine of Vanity Fair’s caliber would run a character assassination piece almost entirely based on anonymous sources — is a bipartisan backlash. Not against Palin, but against Vanity Fair."

Oh yes: First “Hillary 2012″ ad hits the airwaves

Hot Air "The commercial was paid for by a Chicago dentist named William DeJean. When asked why he put the ad up, DeJean told CNN Thursday that “I’m a dentist and I don’t think this country is headed in the right direction.”
"Regarding Clinton, DeJean says “I think she is the most qualified.”
"DeJean adds that he thinks people are having buyer’s remorse about President Barack Obama and says the current administration is ruining the Democratic Party."...
"I’ve explained before why the idea of a Hillary primary challenge to The One will never, ever happen, but darn it, as a former supporter of Operation Chaos and a professional Obama critic, I’m duty bound to hype the living shinola out of this thing."

NAACP, Others Start Tea Party Stalking Site

Sweetness and Light "The site’s success will likely be measured in the "gotcha" moments it can accumulate that aim to embarrass or undermine the Tea Party movement. The submissions will most often come from citizen journalists, who have grown in form and fashion since Sen. George Allen of Virginia was ousted from his Senate seat in 1996 after his "macaca" moment…"

New York Times blames the victims for Beit Hagai massacre

Leo Rennert "The article's lead paragraph makes perfectly clear where the Times thinks the primary blame for the deadliest terrorist attack on Israeli civilians in more than two years lies. The killing of these Israelis on the eve of peace talks in Washington, Kershner and Landler write, "underscored the disruptive role that the issue of Jewish settlements could play in the already fragile negotiations." "  Much more on this topic below.

An Inconvenient Extremist

American Thinker "Indeed, the purveyors of environmental extremism reap riches through the sale of their delusional books and videos. Have you seen the pictures of Al Gore's new multi-million dollar oceanside mansion? But, that story will go unreported by liberal media outlets.
"There will be no investigative reports. There will be no exposes on dangerous and violent radical environmentalism. There will be no recriminations by "mainstream" liberal groups.
"That would not push the liberal/progressive/environmentalist agenda forward."

Cracks in Climate Change Onslaught Appear  "All of this scare-tactic hysteria comes without any credible and repeatable scientific tests showing how trivial amounts of CO2 can have any major impact on global warming and without any believable mathematical model showing minimal climate change in over 1000 years except for the last 70 years of technological progress."
