More liberal civility

Texas pro-abortion protestors explained by one sign   "Texas officials have confirmed they confiscated 18 jars of feces, a jar of urine, and various femine hygiene products that protestors were apparently planning to throw from the balcony in the senate chamber."
Sister Toldjah plucked this image off of Twitter and headlined it as evidence of the "abject failure of modern feminism." It's all that and a whole lot more.

That girl is obviously a minor. School is out in Texas in July so there's no truancy in play, but there is modesty in play. There's also intelligence, or the lack thereof, and kindness, or the lack thereof, and a sense of what is worth treating seriously and what is not.

Mark Steyn and Judicial Watch on the Zimmerman trial

American Thinker "Today's column from Mark Steyn combines wit and profundity on the significance of the Zimmerman trial. He lays out the true extent of the corruption of the judicial process underway, with his trademark irony at full throttle: In real justice systems, the state decides what crime has been committed and charges somebody with it. In the Zimmerman trial, the state's "theory of the case" is that it has no theory of the case: Might be murder, might be manslaughter, might be aggravated assault,..."

From Heritage: Zimmerman Trial: The Holder Justice Department’s Latest Abuse of Power
"Judicial Watch has released documents showing the latest abuse of power by the Department of Justice (DOJ): helping “organize and manage rallies and protests against George Zimmerman.” "
Documents Obtained by Judicial Watch Detail Role of Justice Department in Organizing Trayvon Martin Protests
' “These documents detail the extraordinary intervention by the Justice Department in the pressure campaign leading to the prosecution of George Zimmerman,” said Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton. “My guess is that most Americans would rightly object to taxpayers paying government employees to help organize racially-charged demonstrations.” "

White House Escalates War of Words With Fox News

Fox News  "Calling Fox News "a wing of the Republican Party," the Obama administration on Sunday escalated its war of words against the channel, even as observers questioned the wisdom of a White House war on a news organization.
" "What I think is fair to say about Fox -- and certainly it's the way we view it -- is that it really is more a wing of the Republican Party," said Anita Dunn, White House communications director, on CNN." (Or MSNBC?)
....
"In recent weeks, the White House has begun using its government blog to directly attack what it called "Fox lies." David Gergen, who has worked for President Bill Clinton and three Republican presidents, questioned the propriety of the White House declaring war on a news organization."
 What if Republicans attacked MSNBC?

And, in this same article, is the reason I call Mr. Obama a petulant juvenile:
"Still, Obama refused to appear on Fox News Sunday with Chris Wallace on Sept. 20, the day he appeared on five other Sunday shows. At the time, the White House characterized the snub as payback for the Fox Broadcast Network's decision not to air an Obama prime time appearance. But last weekend, Dunn blamed Fox News Channel's coverage of the administration for Obama's snub of Fox News Sunday."

Charles Krauthammer; A modest GOP agenda for 2013

Political Cartoons by Henry Payne
Charles Krauthammer   "Today it’s agreed that Republican obstructionism is the root of all evil — GOP resistance having now escalated to nihilism and indeed sabotage.
Political Cartoons by Gary Varvel

"Sabotage carries a fine whiff of extralegal, anti-constitutional vandalism. This from media mandarins who barely bat an eyelash when President Obama unilaterally suspends parts of his own health-care law — just as he unilaterally stopped enforcing current immigration laws for 1.7 million young illegal immigrants, thereby enacting by executive order legislation that had failed in Congress. So much for faithfully executing the laws (Article II)."
Political Cartoons by Lisa Benson

Mr. Krauthammer moves on from ObamaCare to other national and world events.

...."U.S. national interests cannot hinge on personal pique. Karzai is both deeply unreliable and terminally ungrateful. But he will be gone one day, as will Obama. The terrorist breeding/training grounds of Afghanistan and Pakistan will remain.
"For four years, the president argued that our strategic interests require a residual presence in Afghanistan in order to prevent a re-establishment of terrorist safe havens in the region.
"Does he still believe this?"
Krauthammer concludes with this challenge to Republicans:
"Oppose further expansion of the entitlement state, reform the tax code, secure the border, demand clarity on Afghanistan. A modest, doable, responsible agenda for 2013.

Posts on the Zimmermann trial

Posts from Lucianne

The media lynching of George Zimmerman    "George Zimmerman is innocent. The evidence clearly shows this. Yet the liberal media have already convicted him in the court of public opinion. The result is not only that a man’s life — regardless of the verdict — has been shattered. Race relations have been poisoned, paving the way for possible deadly riots if Mr. Zimmerman is acquitted."
Why the Zimmerman Prosecutors Should Be Disbarred
" "Which Owner would be more inclined to yell for help?" read the banner on the top of the slide.  The slide was divided in two.  On the left was a photo of George Zimmerman's Kel-Tec PF-9 9mm handgun, and on the right was a can of Arizona Watermelon Fruit Juice Cocktail.  Beneath the photo of the gun was the question, "Who followed?"  Under the can was the question, "Who ran?" "

Obama’s Alinskyite Administration

"The question now isn’t really how many other left-wing “community organizing” projects like the one at Justice are being subsidized by the Obama administration. The real issue is whether the entire Obama administration has basically become an enabler and cheerleader for every Saul Alinsky tactic its radical appointees want to embrace — from the Department of Housing and Urban Development’s bullying local officials over public-housing construction demands to the Environmental Protection Agency’s colluding with environmentalist groups to lose lawsuits the groups file against the EPA in court."    John Fund is national-affairs columnist for NRO.

Zimmerman Juror ‘Appeared To Be Wiping Away A Tear’ During Prosecution’s Rebuttal

New Black Panther Party coy on ‘rallies,’ ‘street maneuvers,’ post-Zimmerman trial  " New Black Panther Party members are prepping for rallies and gatherings in the wake of the George Zimmerman murder trial, but are coy on whether violence, riots and other chaotic outbursts are potential — or welcome — offshoots of those events."

Legal Insurrection, a truly fine legal site, reports on the Zimmermann trial

Zimmerman Defense Gives Evidence-Rich Closing, State Appeals to “Heart”   "This morning saw the defense give its closing statement in Florida v. Zimmerman, the last opportunity for them to deliver their compelling narrative of innocence to the jury. And boy, did Mark O’Mara deliver. In a closing rich with evidence, facts, and the law, O’Mara focused the jury on their legal obligation to deliver a verdict consistent with the State’s burden to prove Zimmerman’s guilt beyond a reasonable doubt."

Where’s the shame? Scandals may no longer end political careers

They're just now figuring this out? Most of us have known this since Bill Clinton.
Political Cartoons by Ken Catalino
McClatchy "Sex. Drugs. Cheating on a spouse.
"Those words used to add up to shame. Put them in the same sentence as a politician’s name, and they ended careers.
"Not anymore. The latest batch of unlikely back-from-the-swamp hopefuls are Anthony Weiner and Eliot Spitzer. Weiner resigned his New York City congressional seat two years ago after revelations that he’d tweeted a sexually suggestive picture of himself to a woman who was following him on Twitter. Spitzer left the state’s governorship in 2008 after reports surfaced that federal investigators had tagged him as “Client 9,” soliciting high-end prostitutes.
       Political Cartoons by Steve Breen
"Each now has a decent shot at a big prize, Weiner New York’s Democratic mayoral nomination, Spitzer the city’s comptroller job. Spitzer led his closest rival by 9 percentage points in a Wall Street Journal-NBC 4-Marist poll released Thursday."
See the looks of adoration on the faces of women when a certain ex-president accused of rape enters a room.

Signs and Wonders: Duggars join Texas fight against ‘baby holocaust’

World Magazine
"The stars of the hit television program 19 Kids and Counting, Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, lent their voices to Texas pro-life efforts this week. ... She said her daughter Josie, 3, is an example of a child born at 25 weeks, an age at which many children are aborted. The Texas House passed the bill, and the Senate likely will take it up today. Barring parliamentary barriers, the bill should pass the Republican-controlled body. Gov. Rick Perry has promised to sign it into law."  (Emphasis added.)

BREAKING: Big Mama Says Bye-Bye: DHS Secretary Resigns

Yid With Lid
"Multiple news source(sp) are reporting that Janet Napolitano, who had been serving as the head of the Department of Homeland Security since the beginning of the Obama administration has submitted her resignation and will leave her office in two months."
....
"While many people will celebrate Napolitano's departure remember--judging by the president's track record her replacement could be worse (I understand former Egyptian President Morsi may be looking for a Job."

Point and Counterpoint: Complete the Islamists' Defeat/ Why Does Egypt’s Turmoil Matter to Us?

Foreign Policy Research Institute: Complete the Islamist's Defeat ; "On July 8, the Obama administration finally did the right thing in Egypt—by not calling what Mohamed Mursi's historically huge opposition rightly hails as its "corrective revolution" a coup."  Emphasis added.

...."Despite the dangers of growing violence, the removal of Mohamed Mursi is a truly promising moment for Egypt—and should be for us all. The Islamists have suffered their first great setback since the launching of the Arab Spring, one that threatens all their gains everywhere..... Egypt has a long, long way to go to create a truly open, prosperous, and democratic society, and the path may be even more bloody, but only now does she have even the slightest chance to succeed. This is what we should be focused on now, rather than expecting a smooth, stable democracy while placating the forces of darkness--who can never be appeased".
Morning Bell: Why Does Egypt’s Turmoil Matter to Us?   "The Obama Administration has bungled the entire Egyptian revolution, Heritage experts say, and that will have lasting consequences.
"President Obama backed the administration of Mohamed Morsi, a member of the Muslim Brotherhood, who was just ousted by the protesters and the military. As Heritage expert James Phillips noted, “Egyptian protesters have been carrying signs denouncing President Obama for supporting terrorism, because they are disappointed by Obama’s uncritical support for Morsi, whom they consider to be a terrorist.” "

What Is It With Liberals and Food?

PowerLine  "Prediction: It’s only a matter of time before we learn that the Obama Administration has reclassified ketchup as a vegetable.  And it gives great confidence about how well Obamacare is going to work out."

Another IRS Scandal Waiting to Happen

Wall Street Journal   "Federal Elections Commissioner Donald McGahn (pictured) wants to rein in the bureaucracy of this sensitive agency. The political left is furious."

...."But Americans, and the FEC commissioners, need only recall our recent experience of letting federal employees meddle in politics. Mr. McGahn deserves great credit for trying to avoid the potential for another IRS scandal. Let's see if the Obama team is just as serious."
