California’s Carl’s Jr. Says So Long, Golden State

Democrats will chant about "corporate greed", but Americans need to fear government greed!

Investor's Business Daily

Once a corporate fixture in California, where the company began, Carl's Jr. moved its headquarters to Nashville, Tenn. some say to avoid California's onerous taxes and regulations. (Casey Christie/Zuma Press/Newscom)

"To hear Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders, you’d think that taxes can go up to 60% or even 80%, and businesses and investors will just … pay up. But the growing number of businesses stampeding out of high tax areas suggest that they’re very wrong.
"We got more evidence of that this week when CKE Restaurants, the corporate parent of Hardee’s and Carl’s Jr. restaurants, announced that they are relocating to Nashville, Tennessee.
"Hardee’s will move its headquarters from St. Louis, Missouri, to Nashville, Tennessee, one of America’s fastest growing states.
"Oh, and did we mention that the state has no personal income tax?
"Meanwhile, the Carl’s Jr. move puts more egg on the face of California and the political class in Sacramento. Hamburger fast food chain Carl’s Jr. was founded in California and for years has been headquartered in Carpinteria, California. The highest income tax rate in California is 13%, so moving to Tennessee, where the tax rate is zero, will save the company millions of dollars on taxes a year." . . .
What the left will call evil "corporate greed" is simply good business and the free market at work. TD

Hillary . . . Why Would the Benghazi Mom Have Made Up Her Story? UPDATED

Writer Katherine Timpf states right at the start, "This is not a rhetorical question."

National Review   . . . "I really am asking! I’m a pretty doggone creative person, but no matter how hard I try, I just cannot seem to think of a single reason why Smith would lie about this. After all, it’s not as if Smith has anything to gain politically. (Seeing as, you know, she’s not a politician.) Hillary, on the other hand, has a lot to politically lose if she admits that she did indeed look this woman in the eyes at her only son’s funeral and lie to her about his death."

"To be clear, Hillary’s saying that Smith is “wrong” to accuse her either (a) being delusional and imagining scenarios that did not happen or (b) of being someone who would deliberately lie to her at her own son’s funeral for seemingly no reason at all (that is, of being a twisted and downright despicable person)." . . .  Read more.

UPDATE:  ABC Censors Mother of Benghazi Victim’s Charges Against Hillary Clinton  "In a stunning moment Univision anchor Jorge Ramos, in the March 9 Democratic debate, actually played a clip of Patricia Smith and pressed Hillary Clinton to respond to the mother of Bengazhi victim Sean Smith.

"The moment was stunning because while Fox News has pursued her story, the Big Three networks (ABC, CBS, NBC) have barely touched it. In fact, since 2012, ABC has yet to air a second of Smith’s claims that the former Secretary of State lied to her. In total, there have just been five stories (CBS 2, NBC 3, ABC 0) that contained Smith’s emotional pleas for answers.

"In contrast, in the summer of 2005 when anti-Iraq war mom Cindy Sheehan camped out in front of George W. Bush’s Crawford, Texas ranch the networks flooded their evening and morning shows with 100 stories (ABC 37, NBC 33, CBS 30) in the first month (August 9 through September 9) of coverage alone." . . .

Slate has some advice for Hillary in opposing Trump

Is Hillary Clinton Likable Enough to Beat Donald Trump?

"Yes, but it won’t be easy."

hillary clinton.

. . . "After a quarter-century on the national stage, Clinton can no longer console herself that voters just haven’t gotten to know her yet. They know her very well, and a solid, unmovable mass of them simply do not like her. The battering she has taken over her use of a private email server as secretary of state and the pseudo-scandal regarding the 2012 terrorist attack in Benghazi have reinforced the belief that she is less than truthful. Averaging various polls, her favorable/unfavorable rating now hovers at around 40–53. A 13-point negative gap in favorability would bode badly, were she not facing the prospect of a likely Republican nominee with a 28-point gap."
. . .
. . . "She will have some chance to show a softer side at the Democratic convention in Philadelphia in July, which follows her pregnant daughter Chelsea’s due date for the Clintons’ second grandchild. Instances of warmth may ensue.
Political Cartoons by Jerry Holbert

"But trying too hard to humanize Clinton could backfire, as it did in 2000 with Al Gore’s attempts at a makeover when he ran for the Democrats. A wiser strategy would be to reinforce what people do like about Clinton. Whether or not they fully trust her, large majorities of voters view her as competent, decisive, and prepared for the job of being president. Politicians don’t need to be beloved in order to be successful. A measure of respect is sufficient."

Can Socialist Monopoly compete with Capitalist Monopoly?

The People's Cube  . . . "Brilliant minds among the loser community have made repeated attempts to make new rules that would allow them to become winners. They mostly ended up with appointing one of the players to be a dictator (usually themselves), who promises to redistribute everything on the board equally so that everyone wins. The dictator appoints assistants and together they become the government. For this plan to work, the government must forcibly take over all the property on the game board. Thus the government becomes a monopolist and the sole big winner. All the others become perpetual lesser winners: equal among themselves, but not equal to the government and its officials. Let's broadly describe it as Socialist Monopoly. " . . .

KRAUTHAMMER: Bernie Sanders, The Holocaust and identity

"Jews must not make victimhood [their] chief legacy"

Charles Krauthammer

"Bernie Sanders is the most successful Jewish candidate for the presidency ever. It’s a rare sign of the health of our republic that no one seems to care or even notice much. Least of all, Sanders himself. Which prompted Anderson Cooper in a recent Democratic debate to ask Sanders whether he was intentionally keeping his Judaism under wraps.
“ 'No,” answered Sanders: “I am very proud to be Jewish.” He then explained that the Holocaust had wiped out his father’s family. And that he remembered as a child seeing neighbors with concentration camp numbers tattooed on their arms.

"Being Jewish, he declared, “is an essential part of who I am as a human being.”
"A fascinating answer, irrelevant to presidential politics but quite revealing about the state of Jewish identity in contemporary America.
"Think about it. There are several alternate ways American Jews commonly explain the role Judaism plays in their lives." . . .

"Charles Krauthammer says the role of Judaism should be balanced between the memory of martyrdom and the revival of Hebrew in a new age."  Sorry, but this source requires a subscription.

POLS WANT TO MAKE CITIZENSHIP IRRELEVANT — SHOWING DISRESPECT FOR THE AMERICAN DREAM

Mark-Viverito wants to grant voting rights to non-citizens

Infowars

Pols want to make citizenship irrelevant — showing disrespect for the American dream

"New York City Council Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito has long refused to pledge even ceremonial allegiance to the American flag. No surprise, then, that she displays no respect for American citizenship, either.
Mark-Viverito wants to grant voting rights to non-citizens — including, perhaps, illegal immigrants — in all municipal elections. And she’s not alone.
Meanwhile, New York state’s newly minted Education commissioner, MaryEllen Elia, champions licensing illegal immigrants to teach in New York’s public schools, as well as to practice 52 other regulated professions. Not that her views really matter, of course. The state Board of Regents just approved the change. (It’s a going-away present from Chancellor Merryl Tisch, soon to depart after seven years as felonious former Assembly speaker Shelly Silver’s hand-picked education czar.)
"To be sure, both schemes come wrapped in pretty ribbons." . . .
It’s all about making sure that New York never again suffers the presence of powerful Republicans.

Attorney General Lynch Looks Into Prosecuting ‘Climate Change Deniers’

"None of the public officials involved in this abuse of the prosecutorial power of the government recognize the outrageousness of what they are doing or are urging the FBI and the Justice Department to do. They want to investigate and prosecute corporations and individuals for their opinions on an unproven scientific theory, for which there is not a consensus, despite inaccurate claims to the contrary."
Hans von Spakovsky

In news that should shock and anger Americans, U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch told the Senate Judiciary Committee on Wednesday that not only has she discussed internally the possibility of pursuing civil actions against so-called “climate change deniers,” but she has “referred it to the FBI to consider whether or not it meets the criteria for which we could take action.”
Whitehouse, Democrat
Lynch was responding to a question from Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse, D-R.I., who urged Lynch to prosecute those who “pretend that the science of carbon emissions’ dangers is unsettled,” . . . "
. . . "What Lynch should have said to Whitehouse is that the duty of the U.S. Justice Department (and the FBI) is to fairly enforce the laws of the United States in a dispassionate, nonideological manner based on the facts, not to investigate those who hold disfavored views regarding scientific controversies."   But . . .
That Obama is more popular than ever and politicians such as Democrat Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse are the choice of their state makes me fear their voters as much as I do those they elect. TD

LYING AS FAST AS SHE CAN, CONT’D

Power Line   "The editors of the New York Post widen the focus on Hillary Clinton’s performance at her most recent debate with Bernie Sanders. They call her performance “another pack of lies.”Here I would like simply to yield the floor to the editors of the Post:. . .

An excerpt here:

. . . No: The Obama administration never got any suggestion from the field that the deadly attack was anything but a long-planned assault by terrorists. The “blame the video” idea was cooked up in Washington.
Not entirely Clinton’s fault — except that she chose to needlessly retail that spin to grieving families, rather than just say, “We will make whoever did this pay.” . . .
That debate audience who booed Jorge Ramos so loudly: were they unaware of Hillary's record or, as Bill Clinton's supporters were, totally devoid of concern over it? TD

Speaking of Bill Clinton:
Hillary’s Bill Problem Is Back

After Hillary said Donald Trump "demonstrated a penchant for sexism" in January, Trump sharply riposted by reminding everyone of some of the 1990s’ worst moments. "She wants to accuse me of things and the husband is one of the great abusers of the world," Trump said. "Give me a break." Hillary hasn’t mentioned Trump’s treatment of women since.

hillaryandbill.jpg

. . . "Actually, Hillary is pretty politically savvy, and she’s been playing the game most of her adult life. She also possesses many appealing assets other politicians don’t, including the discipline and Washington savvy Bill lacked when he became president in 1993. But the woman cruelly nicknamed Sister Frigidaire in high school, whose mother dreamed of her being America’s first female chief justice of the Supreme Court, does lack Bill's magnetism and smooth charm. And that is a problem for her, if for no other reason than he will be by her side for the duration of the campaign—and she is hardly the only one to note that, next to him, she's no "natural.' Warren's Consideration, paid for through students tuition can we not assume?

Snopes  . . . "It's fair to say average Americans would find homes in Warren's neighborhood to be out of their price range, and assessments of the value of Warren's home hover between one and two million dollars, far under the $5.4 million cited in the image above. It's possible the estimate came from the range in which Warren listed her home on standard disclosure forms in 2011 [PDF], a pre-set checkbox field that indicates a value anywhere between one and five million dollars.

"Although at one point, Warren did draw a large salary for teaching at Harvard (her 2011 campaign disclosure form indicates a salary for 2010-2011 of $429,981 although her paperwork doesn't indicate how many classes she was actually teaching), her 2013 tax filings [PDF] indicated that she left in January of that year (when she was sworn in to her Senate post) only retaining an agreement to be able to store some materials at the university and retain an honorary title of emeritus professor. A Harvard Computer Society (HCS) document held Warren's salary was $192,550 at an unspecified juncture, along with $133,453 in "other compensation."

Kerry Says He Didn't Want to Threaten Nuclear Agreement with U.S. Hostage Negotiations by attempting to ask Iran to release all US hostages last year.

Obama's Syrian policy goes down the rabbit hole . . . "Perhaps the administration’s Syrian policy, and the overall failed policies of the Obama-Clinton regime in all areas, is best summarized by the Furqa al-Sultan Murad commander quoted in the article:
Othman said he was in regular contact with his American handlers about the problems on the ground. “The Americans must stop [the YPG] — they must tell them you are attacking groups that we support just like we support you,” he said. “But they are just watching. I don’t understand U.S. politics.”
Longest-Held U.S. Hostage in History Hits 9th Anniversary  "Levinson, who served 28 years with the FBI and DEA, went missing off the coast of Iran in March 2007 while working as a private investigator. Levinson’s family later received images of him in captivity, though the Iranian government has maintained they don’t know who is holding him.

State Newspaper: Cuba Won't 'Concede an Inch' Despite Obama Visit  . . . "An editorial in Granma pledged that the long-embargoed nation would cling "to its revolutionary and anti-imperialist ideals," and that normalized relations with the United States would not lead to reform there.
" 'Cuba has assumed the construction of a new relationship with the United States, fully exercising its sovereignty and committed to its ideals of social justice and solidarity. No one can presume that to do so we must renounce a single one of our principles, [or] concede an inch in their defense," the nearly 3,000-word piece stated." . . .

Clinton vs the mother of slain Benghazi contractor Sean Smith.

Clinton says she didn't lie to mother of Benghazi victim
. . . "Clinton claimed it was the "fog of war" that led to the mistaken belief that the video was the cause of the attacks.  If there was fog, it was created by Hillary Clinton and the Obama presidential campaign who sought to downplay their failure to secure the facilities and protect our people."

Lucianne calls the above "Sheer, raw mendacity".  ( lack of honesty : the condition of being mendacious)  . . . "Clinton offered her sympathies for Patricia Smith and the other victims’ families. But she did not directly address what she did or did not say to them during the memorial service."

Nor did we expect her to. Remember this was just before the 2012 presidential election. Obama voters still loved him, even knowing - well, knowing nothing but what they had an interest in knowing.TD

Benghazi Victim’s Mother: ‘Special Place In Hell’ For People Like Hillary, “I Hope She Enjoys It There’
. . . "She later added, “I want Hillary to talk to me personally, and tell me why there was no security there, when they were asked for it. I know this, because I spoke to my son. That day, he says he was really scared, because he saw the 17 people — 17 November, whatever it was, that they were walking around taking pictures. And he was afraid. He says it didn’t look very good. And he was afraid. And that he asked for security, and he was turned down.' ” . . .

Jorge Ramos Peppers Hillary with Indictment, Benghazi Questions
"Hillary Clinton was called out during the debate last night by Univision anchor Jorge Ramos for not answering questions on the email scandal or Benghazi.
"Ramos began his questioning at the Miami event with full disclosure that his daughter, Paula, works for Clinton's campaign."

Wow. Last night during the Democrat Debate, Hillary Clinton basically called Patricia Smith, mother of Benghazi victim Sean Smith, a liar.
