Breaking: Supreme Court Allows Sandy Hook Lawsuit To Proceed, Major Blow To Gun Manufacturers

The Connecticut Supreme Court ruled 4-3 in March that Remington can be sued because of the way the AR-15-style Bushmaster rifle was marketed. The families’ lawsuit contends that Remington glorified the gun in advertising aimed at young people, including in violent video games. The Sandy Hook killer, Adam Lanza, was 20 when he shot and killed his mother at home, then went to the Newtown school and gunned down first-graders and educators. Lanza then killed himself.
Young Conservative  "Tuesday, The Supreme Court refused to protect a major firearms manufacturer from possible liability in the horrific Sandy Hook shooting in 2012. The terrible event left 26 students and teachers dead in Newtown, Connecticut.
"The justices’ newly found decision will allow the lawsuit filed by parents of Sandy Hook Elementary victims to move forward with the allegation of Remington Arms Co. marketing the rifle used in the mass shooting.
"The lawsuit will continue at the state law." . . .

After this mass murder I posted the following in the Tunnel Wall:

The Tunnel Wall; Tuesday, December 18, 2012 Here, two respected writers discuss the case against taking away individual firearms from Americans. Yes, it is true that if guns did not exist everywhere in this nation those little children in Sandy Hook would be living right now and I only wish that were the case. But it is not and there are violent people out there in their thousands and they are armed; willing and lusting to watch innocent people die in bunches by their hands. How, exactly do you gun-control advocates plan to remove those weapons from their blood-thirsty hands?I will honestly look for a reasoned argument FOR gun control that contains effective means for keeping us safe from those who carry weapons illegally and are willing to do us harm. Jeremy Richman: Sandy Hook Victim’s Father Dies by Suicide

Heavy  "Jeremy Richman, 49, of Newtown, Connecticut, was found dead by an apparent suicide Monday morning.
Richman was the father of Avielle Richman, a first-grader killed in the 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary shooting. The massacre took the lives of 26 students and staff.
According to one report, the body of Richman was reportedly found in the stage area at Edmond Town Hall that is undergoing renovations." . . .

. . .
"According to The Middletown Press, police found a note at the scene, but have not said what was in it." . . .
. . . “The death appears to be a suicide, but police will not disclose the method or any other details of the death, only to state the death does not to appear to be suspicious,” police said in a Facebook post." . . .

"Tomorrow's shooting": Sandy Hook Promise releases another chilling PSA

CBS News   "A video depicting a local news broadcast about a school shooting that has yet to occur is the latest public service announcement created by Sandy Hook Promise to help bring awareness to the warning signs often displayed by people who are at risk of hurting themselves or others.

"In the minute-long video, which was released just days before the fifth anniversary of the deadly shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut, a reporter interviews people about "tomorrow's shooting" involving a 15-year-old boy who kills four students and two adults before committing suicide." . . .

. . . "The scenario in the ad then replays in slow motion — this time, focusing on a troubled student in the background who's reading a magazine about guns, refusing to interact with a fellow student, getting bullied by his locker, researching guns on the internet and posing with a weapon in a selfie posted on Instagram.
"More than 10 million people have watched the powerful PSA since it was released on the organization's YouTube channel on Dec. 2, 2016. Many viewers praised the group for bringing awareness to a serious issue."
Since the Sandy Hook shooter was from outside the school, this cautionary tale would apply mainly to his friends, neighbors, and his parents.
Sad to say, but these mass murderers have affected our relationships with all those mentioned above.

UPDATED:

The Blaze   "Most died at the very start of their young lives, tiny victims taken in a way not fit no matter one’s age. Others found their life’s work in sheltering these little ones, teaching them, caring for them, treating them as their own. After the gunfire ended Friday at Sandy Hook Elementary School, the trail of loss was more than many could bear: 20 children and six adults at the school, the gunman’s mother at home, and the gunman himself.

"According to the authorities, all six adults killed at the school were women.
"Of the 20 children who were shot to death, eight were boys and 12 were girls. All the children were ages 6 or 7."

"Janet Robinson, the superintendent of Newtown Public Schools, said Sherlach and the school’s principal ran toward the shooter. They lost their own lives, rushing toward him.
"Even as Sherlach neared retirement, her job at Sandy Hook was one she loved. Those who knew her called her a wonderful neighbor, a beautiful person, a dedicated educator"

Did you hear about the MSNBC video of NRA supporters heckling a Sandy Hook victim's father? Never, never believe any NBC source!

Deceptively Edited Video Of Sandy Hook Hearing Portrays Gun-Rights Supporters As Hecklers
"In the wake of a gun control hearing involving the father of one of the victims of the tragic Sandy Hook shooting BuzzFeed, The Telegraph, and other liberal media outlets have resorted to using a deceptively edited video in order to smear Second Amendment supporters.
"A video promoted by all of the aforementioned sites purportedly shows the "father of Newtown victim heckled by NRA supporters." However, when the heavily edited video of Neil Heslin is compared to the raw video, available at Twitchy, it becomes apparent that important context has been removed from the interaction.

NBC Demonizes Gun Owners With Phony 'Heckler' Story

Big Journalism; Media Had No Incentive to Verify 'Heckle' Story  "When the media assumes the role of protecting The State, that's when manufactured propaganda is allowed to become news. The probably false "heckle" story helps The State because The State wants to restrict our civil rights. Therefore, the story is too good to check and must be spread as quickly as possible."

This sums up the entire recent history of NBC News, putting the above story into context.
Capus
NBC News Caught Using Deceptive Edit … Again  "NBC News just can't stop with its ongoing crusade to deliberately and maliciously manipulate content in order to push Obama's agenda. Just how shamelessly and desperately dishonest is the Peacock Network? Let us count the ways."
....
"All of this has happened under the watch of Stave Capus ...who's not only the president of NBC News, but also the "the arbiter of issues involving ethics, style, standards, safety and other matters that affect the Division's journalistic bearing."
" But Capus has obviously done nothing to stop the ongoing and flagrant fraud committed by his subordinates -- and in some cases his anchors.
"How many Dan Rather moves like this does NBC News get to make before some action is taken? And if Capus isn't going to do something, maybe there's one person above him with a smidgen of character."

Discussions on this latest murdering head case

Thomas Lifson:  Florida school shooter in custody may offer an opportunity to explore role of medications in school massacres
. . . "Or...maybe we should examine the widespread use of psychotropic stimulant drugs, such as Ritalin, on male pupils in schools, which began to be used on a  wide scale in 1996.  Particularly when the drug use stops, there may be undesirable consequences.
"I am not suggesting that anyone knows with certainty that there is a relationship, but rather that this is a factor that should be studied closely.  Now that a shooter is alive and capable of talking to authorities, his drug use should be examined, as should the use of pharmaceuticals by other shooters."

NRA influence: Another lying Democrat lie
. . . "You want to talk about influence?  My pick for most at fault is the terrifying and dangerous Democrat indoctrination of our youth, pervasive throughout virtually every industry in America – from media to technology to anti-Second Amendment groups, most notably Everytown for Gun Safety, led by Michael Bloomberg, New York's former mayor.

(UPDATED) Unverified Report Claims Westboro Baptist Church's Plans to Picket Sandy Hook Funerals Thwarted by Good Samaritan Bikers

Seeking confirmation of this story; The Newtown Bee has no mention of these bikers attending yet.  Nor does the Woodbury newspaper. Below is what we have found on the story. Tunnel Dweller.

Update from Dec 15th: Connecticut school shooting: Protest planned to stop Westboro Baptist Church  Counter-protest Facebook page here. Excerpt from the Facebook page:
There was a collection of mostly local people on the Woodbury town green from noon on, growing to over a hundred by 2pm. People ... formed a human wall to block the signs of any would be protestors. There was also a number of members of a biker club, and visible police presence. The Westborough Baptist Church ... did not show up. The atmosphere was quiet and respectful for the sake of the families. .... I believe our numbers and our determination to not create a media scene or any trouble they could capitalize off of dissuaded them from showing up today.
The Stir   "Anyway, after Westboro threatened to picket the funerals of these innocent children (but haven't actually done so yet so far as I can tell), strangers from all over traveled to Newtown to form a human chain to block messages of hate from the eyes of the grieving townspeople. These human chains have been formed before at the funerals of soldiers.
"This time, a line of motorcyclists formed on the streets to keep watch for the Westboro loonies. "All these guys see us and think we're bad. We're not. It's solidarity, is what it is," New York biker Jim Hannigan told a reporter. "I just felt I had to be here." Seriously, Westboro, do you want to mess with bikers?!
"I don't know what kind of God Westboro Church believes in, but it's not the God the majority of people believe in. The idea that God sent down a reign of terror on Connecticut because of its gay marriage laws is absurd. But, you know, there's all kinds of nutty people in this world. I think this group only gets attention because it calls itself a church. I really feel sorry for the children (most of them children of the pastor) who are stuck in this "church.""

Westboro Baptist Church to picket Sandy Hook funerals: 4 ways to respond "How do you solve a problem like Westboro Baptist Church? Here are a few options."

It worked, the WBC stood down. "

Let's talk about gun control, shall we?

After Sandy Hook, I hated guns and my emotions cried for them to all disappear; the image of terrified children being, well, you all know.
But we know, too, that peaceful people and shop owners - the Korean store owners during the LA riots protecting their businesses comes to mind - will be the first to lose their protection. Those with children serving as policemen would dread the thought of them entering dangerous areas of cities like Chicago to try taking those guns away.
This nation has a myriad of evil people with guns who have no qualms about killing others because of the color of their skin or their clothes, their politics, their shoes, or, well, just because it's a certain day of the week.
I cannot help but blame the liberal left (redundant, perhaps) for creating a society  where we need weapons to protect ourselves and knowing now they want to take away that protection.

Did the Progressive 'Broward County Solution' Cost 17 Student Lives?
" 'We're not compromising school safety.  We're really saving the lives of kids," boasted Michaelle Valbrun-Pope, executive director of Student Support Initiatives for Broward County Public Schools, in August 2017.

"Valbrun-Pope was referring to what an article by Jeffrey Benzing in Public Source calls the "Broward County Solution."  As Benzing relates, Broward County used to lead the state of Florida in sending students to the state's juvenile justice system.  County leaders responded with a perfectly progressive solution: "lower arrests by not making arrests.' " . . .
. . . In July 2012, the Obama administration formalized the pressure on school districts with an executive order warning school districts to avoid "methods that result in disparate use of disciplinary tools."  . . .
. . . "A secondary motive was to protect Obama's misbegotten quest to achieve racially statistical "equity" for youthful offenders by not arresting them for very real crimes."
And Democrats think "President" Kamala Harris won't give us more of this?

All the Laws in the World Aren’t Going to Cut It  Just a bit of philosophical ruminating .

Democrats Rush to Politicize Florida School Shooting  And while the bodies of the victims were still warm and many parents of victims were still . . . "awaiting news about their children, Democrats, predictably, began calling for limits on gun ownership and blaming Republicans for the violence that ensued at the school.
"Sen. Bill Nelson (D-Fla.) was first out of the box, slamming Republicans for not passing legislation to prevent individuals on the terrorist watch list from purchasing guns. He called for a "debate" on gun control." . . .

Texas Sheriff Who Trains Teachers to Carry Guns: “Day of Doing Nothing is Over” . . . "After the shooting in Parkland, Florida, many people are saying we have to “do something” but few people know exactly what that is. One school system in Argyle, Texas decided to make changes after Sandy Hook. They dedicated a police force to their schools and began training teachers to carry guns.
"Sheriff Paul Cairney of Argyle appeared recently on MSNBC and explained how it works." . . .
We are going to see more of this approach. A Republican congressman from Colorado named Patrick Neville is a survivor of the 1999 shooting at Columbine High School. He is pushing for more concealed carry in schools.

Gun control laws either do not work or do not help

Even though I'm still sickened by images of the Sandy Hook carnage, I fear the conclusion I am forced to draw Is discussed below, TD

AR5
bloviatingzeppelin

From the Dec, 2012 Tunnel Wall:  Seeking an effective argument FOR gun control    Here, two respected writers discuss the case against taking away individual firearms from Americans. Yes, it is true that if guns did not exist everywhere in this nation those little children in Sandy Hook would be living right now and I only wish that were the case. But it is not and there are violent people out there in their thousands and they are armed; willing and lusting to watch innocent people die in bunches by their hands. How, exactly do you gun-control advocates plan to remove those weapons from their blood-thirsty hands?

I will honestly look for a reasoned argument FOR gun control that contains effective means for keeping us safe from those who carry weapons illegally and are willing to do us harm. Cartoons showing crazed, wild-eyed gun owners don't wash.

As yet, I have seen only politically correct, emotional responses to the issue that have no value other than simply making a politician look as if they are doing something. TD

"Gun sales are sky-rocketing, as Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, the FBI, and pretty much everyone else in charge of America says two things: they can’t or won’t protect Americans from Muslim terrorists, but they want to take away the most effective tool for law-abiding Americans to protect themselves."

Gun Shop Owner Warned FBI Weeks Before Orlando Terrorist Attacked
"The FBI knew about this guy and did nothing. According to this former FBI assistant director, it’s because the White House is handcuffing the FBI."

The Bizarro Morality of America’s Gun-Control Debate   . . . "The gun-control debate is a Bizarro World unto itself, one where activists, writers, and politicians — operating with an attitude of absolute moral superiority — operate according to their own “bizarro code” with three main tenets: Make up history, propose ineffective remedies, and mock proven solutions." . . .
. . . that all good people should respond to a mass shooting by supporting legislation that wouldn’t have prevented that mass shooting.
I will support these laws because I am sensitive and, well, just a really, really nice guy.

Photos from the scene at San Bernardino

Apparently the memo went out for the media to use the word "rampage".

Mass shooting at Inland Regional Center: What we know
. . .  "We know there were two shooters: A U.S. citizen named Syed Rizwan Farook, 28, who was an inspector with the county health department that hosted the party, and his wife, 27-year-old Tashfeen Malik. They died hours later in a shootout with police.
"Was there a connection to terrorist groups? Law enforcement sources say Farook had been in contact with more than one person who had been the subject of an international terrorism investigation by the FBI.
"For now, here is what we know and don't know about the deadliest mass shooting in the United States since December 2012, when 26 people, mostly children, died at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut:" . . .
San Bernardino: A horror that affects us all  The solution given here is gun control.
Two women embrace at a community center where family members were gathering to pick up people from the scene.

"People who were inside the Inland Regional Center during Wednesday’s attack put their lives in the hands of an officer who led them to safety, a video shows."

Is this one of the "pigs in a blanket" that Black lives matter people were chanting about?  See the small child with his hands up? Islamic radicals would think nothing of killing him, just as the Sandy Hook beast would have.

First pictures of the tragic children murdered in their classrooms after 'deeply disturbed' gunman massacred 26 at Connecticut school

UK Mail  "The three teachers murdered at Sandy Hook Elementary School all died heroes trying to save their students from the gunman.
"Principal Dawn Hochsprung, 47, school psychologist Mary Sherlach, 56, and 27-year-old Victoria Soto (pictured right), a first grade teacher, as three of the eight adults found dead on Friday.
Twenty-eight people died in the shooting rampage, including 20 young children between the ages of five and ten, alleged gunman Adam Lanza, who took his own life, and his mother, who was shot before the school massacre.
"MailOnline can now reveal that Miss Soto sacrificed herself to save her students - throwing her body in front of the young children*.
"When Lanza began started firing at the school in suburban Newtown, Connecticut, some teachers dived under tables - but the Mrs Hochsprung and Mrs Sherlach never hesitated.
"They ran into the hallway to confront the danger - and were murdered execution-style as a result . The New York Times reports that Mrs Hochsprung buzzed Lanza into the school, bypassing the newly-installed security system - recognizing him as the son of Nancy Lanza. It's unclear what Nancy Lanza's connection to the school was, if she had one at all."
*Another report said Soto hid her kids in a closet and told the gunman they were in the gym just before he killed her.

More detail in this account:   "Soto’s cousin, Jim Wiltsie, told media that the teacher was shielding students and ushering them into a classroom closet “when she came face to face with the gunman. “
" “'She put herself between the gunman and the children and that's when she was tragically shot and killed,' Mr Wiltsie said."

Little to add on the adults so far.  "Lt. Paul Vance said Saturday morning that the suspect was not voluntarily let into Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newton."....
"A custodian ran through the halls, warning of a gunman on the loose, and someone switched on the intercom, alerting people in the building to the attack -- and perhaps saving many lives -- by letting them hear the hysteria going on in the school office, a teacher said. Teachers locked their doors and ordered children to huddle in a corner or hide in closets as shots echoed through the building."

"This year will begin with the unrolling of the 13,000 pages of rules and regulations which our insurance companies are supposed to instantly figure out. The costs of plowing through this morass of a mess and implementing it will bring premiums up for some by 20%, 30%, 50%, and as much as 100%."

Is it time to consider civil disobedience?  "While I’d like to see millions of tea-party activists back out in the street as we saw in 2010, perhaps we need to do more than hold placards and sing songs. Maybe we need to stage sit-ins like Martin Luther King did. Maybe we need to submit ourselves to arrest by the tens of thousands, overwhelming the injustice system."
This deserves a stand-alone post instead of disappearing into a reading list.

Here, two respected writers discuss the case against taking away individual firearms from Americans.
TD
